Backcountry Access started in 1994 in a garage in Boulder, Colorado. At the time, backcountry skiing was influenced as much by tradition as by innovation. We took it as a challenge to question conventional wisdom and to test every assumption. The result has been a series of innovative products, some bordering on revolutionary.
2005-06 marks our 11th year we've been selling our products in North America. It marks our 10th year in Europe. Thanks to a core group of dedicated distributors, avalanche professionals, and backcountry riders, the BCA brand is now an integral part of European mountain culture. While our roots are in the young, irreverent North American freeskiing scene, we deeply respect the wisdom and traditions of European alpinism.
As our company matures, so do our values. We take our new role on the international stage as a challenge to participate in our industry responsibly: to bridge the gap between old and new, progressive and cautious, competitive versus cooperative. We’re honored to be involved in this great adventure and wish to thank those customers and friends on both continents that have made it possible.
