i'm single, but i do visit my folks during thanksgiving and christmas. i used to go visit other places and plan a getaway holiday trip with friends but since my mother was diagnosed with an early stage breast cancer, we make sure everyone in the fam gets to celebrate the holidays together.

i'm sorry about your mother, manfred. you said early stage, is she having therapy? a friend with the same case refuse to have it treated and is just enjoying whatever she can until she dies. her doctor talked to me about it, how sorry he feels for her and how i can maybe talk her into having chemo. but with the way she is, i know she hear of it. and it'll only upset her to know her doctor talked to me.

mine is a bit different. the disease runs in our family, a cousin felt a lump and refused to have it checked thinking she'll just save her money for her children's future. she changed her mind a little bit too late, she was diagnosed with stage 3, she's spending all this money that doesn't guarantee her mortality.

my mom's boss, god, she is the ultimate alpha female. she has stage 3 breast cancer and comes to work right after chemo. she just wears a bandanna over her head. and she is still as mean as ever. i really cannot believe it.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might get what you need.

yes, she's having therapy. is your friend single? it's probably different if you're diagnosed and you have a family. i can tell my mom's battling cancer for us - the people she loves and the people who love her. it's really different if you're fighting for someone. that's just what i think tho

after that post, i got a call from that friend saying she's coming over, she met someone and she's having therapy. she even got a new job. amazing. about fighting disease for your family, i remember this story my granny told me when i was younger. my gramps was into all sorts of stuff, alcohol and cigarettes, he never realized until it was too late that he had bone marrow cancer, docs said (i kind of doubt it right now, it was eons ago) it was due to his lifestyle. my grandma with her 7 children kept praying for him to get well. after a while though she realized, if he does make it, life would be very difficult for him so she simply prayed, if it's his time then let it be and just like that, the line went flat.
