I'm doing props on a film being shot in Canada but set in Alaska. In our film there is a flashback to 1994 where a guy is doing some mountain climbing. I have to confess that I don't know a whole lot about how much the gear has changed since then.

 

If anyone has any advice or suggestions on how much the gear has changed since then, or suggestions on which brands and models of current gear would best reflect that period, I'd appreciate it.

 

In particular I'm interested in what ice axes looked like then and if they have changed very much. Again, if there are any current brands you can suggest I'd appreciate it.  Same with harnesses.
