Hey everyone.
Ice climbing looks like a lot of fun. I've been rclimbing avidly for around a year or so, both indoors and outside. So far all of my experience is with rock (or gym plastic). I've always wanted to try out climbing on ice. I think that I might look into starting it this winter, if I can. Right now I'm trying to learn what I need to in order to pick it up. I was hoping that you guys could give me some tips or ideas on how to get started.
I've talked to a few people about this, and heard some suggestions. The biggest points that are coming across are that it's a little bit more extreme than regular outdoor rock climbing, that dressing warmly and appropriately is a large part of it, and that the best way to start is to go with a group of people who are more experienced in the sport.
I'm probing around the internet, and continuing to pester people I know from the climbing community, and I figure that this seems like a good place to pick up some more info as well. I'm seeing tons of information on the importance and ways of keeping warm, so I don't need much more elaboration there, but everything else I could stand to learn more. I appreciate all the help.
-Thanks
