Climbers are closely tracking the plight of the three missing climbers on Mount Hood.
Dane Tornell, a climber who has reached the summit of Mount Hood 15 times, says that reaching the mountain summit entails physical and environmental challenges. Tornell adds that there are still challenging parts of the mountain. The erratic weather conditions often pose challenges, climbers say. For safety purposes, climbing experts recommend bringing along the right equipment.
Tornell and Eben Reckord, a Rainier mountain guide, both agree that supporting the climbers and their families is important. "I understand what they're up against. I've been in those conditions and so in a way to me it's no different than if I had a loved one or a buddy get in a car wreck," Tornell said.
