Austrian Markus Bendler has been hailed as the Ice Climbing World Bouldering Champion during the Ice Climbing World Cup at Valle di Daone in Italy.
Bendler won gold in the first stage of the Ice Climbing World Club, hence the title. Bendler defeated his co-competitors which include Simon Wander and Herbert Klammer. During the competition, his fellow climbers Mario Prinoth, Alexey Vagin, Albert Leichtfried, Mauro "Bubu" Bole, and Alexey Tomilov all had outstanding climbs deserving of an award.
Bendler was able to finish successfully all of the three routes for the competition. This year's competition employed dry tooling which made it one of the best ice climbing competitions ever.
