Ines Papert, First Female M13 Climber
WEDNESDAY, 28 FEBRUARY 2007
Ice Climbing World champion Ines Papert from Germany is the first female climber who ascended M13 at Diebsofen in Austria. She successfully made the climb last February 9.
Papert climbed M13, one of the hardest routes in Europe, as a preparation for a climbing tour in Iceland. Last week, Papert together with Albert Leichtfried, Markus Bendler, and Audrey Gariepy set off to explore Iceland in memory of their friend Harald Berger. Berger, also a winner of the Ice Climbing World Championships last year, died in December in training climb accident.
Papert aims to revalidate her 2005 World title. This March 4-5, she will be joining the finals in Norway. For more information about this news story, visit www.outdoornewswire.com.
