Japanese Team Reaches Panbari Himal in Nepal

A five-member Japanese team has reached the 6905-meter Panbari Himal, making them the first climbers who have climbed the remote snow peak in Peri Himal in Nepal.
Led by Yoshimi Kato, the team is composed of Gakuto Komiya, Sayaka Koyama, Kenro Nakajima and Yousuke Urabe. The team came from the west and into Marsyandi Khola and Larkya La. They put up a base camp on teh Fukan Glacier, which is towards Panbari Himal.
In 2002, the mountain was officially opened to climbers. Previously, it was closed to foreigners because of its close distance to Tibet but it was also secretly opened in 1991.
