Authorities Call for Nudity Ban on Everest

WEDNESDAY, 26 SEPTEMBER 2007

Climbers who are planning to go to Mount Everest without clothes could be banned by mountaineering authorities.

The ban on nudity is being proposed by mountaineering authorities from Nepal. They are said to be outraged by nudist climbers who go to Mount Everest which is worshipped by Nepalese villagers. “There should be strict regulations to discourage such attempts by climbers,” Ang Tshering, Nepal Mountaineering Association president, said.

Tshering also related that Nepalese villages already complained about this issue to the government. Last year, a Nepali climber stood on top of Mount Everest’s summit naked.
