AAC Announces Winners of Expedition Grants

TUESDAY, 22 APRIL 2008

The American Alpine Club announced its 2008 winners of its two major grants - the Lyman Spitzer Cutting-Edge Award and the McNeill-Nott Award.

The winners of the Lyman Spitzer Award were Vince Anderson, Micah Dash, Ben Gilmore, Josh Wharton, and Chad Kellogg.

The two winners of the second annual McNeill-Nott Award were Alex Alexiades who explored and established new routes in the Suches Valley in Cordillera Apolobamba, and Althea Rogers who made an expedition with three other climbers in an attempt to free climb the granite domes of southeast Alaska’s Wood River Range.

Seven grants worth $19,500 will aid American climbers in their attempts to establish routes from Alaska to Pakistan.
