Wanaka, New Zealand - The ice climbing experience is up for those who dare try in Queenstown, South Island. A five-day ice climbing course is being offered for just below $2,000. The ice climbing experience starts off with a trip to the Expedition Base Camp, the participant's camp base only 10 minutes away from the ice. Theory sessions, lectures, and sleeping quarters will be set up at the Base Camp for the duration of the course.
The ice climbing program will teach individuals how to climb steep ice at high altitude. Protected climbing will be practiced in the five-day course. With 4:1 participant to instructor ratio, ice climbers will be able to improve their lead climbing skills properly. Bookings must be made three weeks before the preferred date. There may be abrupt weather changes so participants must come prepared.
